Residential
Phase I delivered 197 new affordable housing units on the 24-acre site of what had been the city’s worst housing project in East Camden, NJ.
Project highlights
Karen served as assistant to architect Steve Schoch on this redevelopment, which replaced inefficient affordable-housing towers with townhouses, duplexes, triplexes and quadplexes designed to fit into the surrounding neighborhood.
Planning takeaway: choosing the right mix of housing types to fit a community is a programming decision, made long before construction documents.
